Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Juan Bustacara earned his B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Motivated by a strong interest in intelligent systems and advanced signal processing, he pursued an M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence for Information Processing and Embedded Signal Processing (IATI–TSE) at ENSEEIHT. During his master’s studies, he joined NXP Semiconductors as an intern, contributing to firmware development and embedded signal‑processing applications.

Juan is now a Ph.D. researcher at the ANT Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Doctoral Network, working jointly with Delft University of Technology and NXP Semiconductors. His research explores the intersection of embedded sensor systems, AI‑driven modeling, and efficient machine learning for resource‑constrained hardware.

His work focuses on:

  • Developing robust Digital Twin sensing pipelines.
  • Designing algorithms for denoising and characterizing 1/f noise
  • Investigating highly compressed and energy‑efficient machine learning models
  • Integrating embedded AI with multi‑modal sensor systems

Through his work, Juan aims to enable more reliable, efficient, and intelligent embedded systems, contributing to the ANT network’s mission.
