DC6: Efficient and realistic over-the-air-computing
Task: Efficient and realistic over-the-air-computing (WP2)
Host institution: IMEC
Country: Belgium
Supervisor: Prof. J. Famaey [IMEC]
Co-supervisors: Prof. K. Wang [BUL]; Dr. P. Sommer [ABB]
Objectives: 1) To evolve over-the-air computing (OTAC) from theoretical ideas towards practical solutions that operate robustly in realistic environments; 2) to apply realistic OTAC for data aggregation in complex graph-based embedded AI topologies.
Expected Results: 1) Simulation models that account for realistic hardware, propagation, and data impairments/distortions; (2) PHY layer OTAC protocols implemented on SDR that are robust to realistic impairment/distortions; (3) Robust distributed OTAC solution for GNNs.
PhD enrolment: Doctoral School of University of Antwerp
Planned secondments:
-
BUL (4 months, M15-M18): Data aggregation through realistic OTAC accounting for hardware, propagation, and data impairments/distortions, with Dr. K. Wang (KPI: joint paper)
-
ABB (3 months, M28-M30): Robust distributed OTAC data aggregation for graph-based topologies in the autonomous robotics application, with Dr. P. Sommer (KPI: joint paper)
Candidate profile: telecommunication engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent (in order of preference)
Desirable skills/interests: signal processing, wireless communications, machine learning, SDR/FPGA implementation (the applicant should be proficient in at least one or two of the skills)
Application Deadline: February 14, 2025, AoE
